WTC Final – South Africa and Australia don black armbands, pay tribute to Ahmedabad Plane Crash Victims

London – On the start of the third day of the WTC Final, Australian and South African Players donned black armbands and observed a minute of silence for the victims of the horrific plane cash in Ahmedabad that has shaken the nation. Over 290 people have lost their lives and the death toll is expected to rise more as more bodies are being pulled out from the wreckage amid rescue operations.

The Plane Crash

On 12th June, Thursday, An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, bound for Gatwick Airport, London from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport crashed into the Meghani Nagar area of the city around 1:38 pm IST. The cause for the crash is speculated but experts believe a double engine failure, a bird hit or complete power loss could be the reasons,. Foul play has been ruled out.

WTC Final – Where the team stands

With a lead of over 250, Australia is in the driver’s seat, currently batting at 180 for 9, with ace pacer Mitchell Starc top-scoring 43, an innings of sheer resilience by the speedster. South African Kagiso Rabada, who has taken 9 wickets in the match so far has been Africa’s best bowler in the match. The seam movement on offer today has been significantly less than the previous two days.
