Navi Mumbai: Rain threatens to spoil the Women’s One-Day World Cup final between India and South Africa at the D.Y. Patil Stadium. Just minutes before the rescheduled toss at 3:00 p.m., light rain began again.
The monsoon seems unwilling to depart. The pitch covers, which had been removed earlier, were placed back on the field. Efforts to dry the outfield are still underway. If interruptions continue, overs will begin to be reduced after two hours.
Earlier, officials had announced that the toss would be delayed due to a damp outfield after the rain. The toss was rescheduled for 3:00 p.m. and the match was to begin at 3:30 p.m., but now the start is likely to be further postponed.
Because of the rain, the number of overs may be shortened. If the weather prevents the match from being completed today, it will resume tomorrow on the reserve day from the point where play was stopped.
