New Delhi : Pakistan cricket team once again cancelled their pre-match press conference ahead of their blockbuster clash against India in the Asia Cup 2025. The two teams are set to lock horns again in the Super 4 fixture on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai. The team management has also hired motivational speaker Dr Raheel Kareem to boost the team’s morale ahead of the crucial clash.
The actions didn’t go down well with the Pakistan team, who expressed their anger by not attending the post-match presentation. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also complained against match referee Andy Pycroft for not taking action against the Indian team. They even threatened to pull out of the tournament if their demands weren’t met and delayed the start of their third group game against the UAE.
The PCB agreed to continue playing the tournament after a meeting with Pycroft. The controversy didn’t end there as the ICC are planning to take action against Pakistan for recording the meeting with Pycroft in the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA), a restricted zone where phones and cameras are barred, and releasing it online. The PCB has defended their action, maintaining that it was within the ICC protocols.
The off-field drama has only added to the pressure on the Pakistan side, who’ve lost their last six matches against India. The Salman Agha-led side will have a lot riding on its shoulders as they take the field against the Men in Blue in the upcoming fixture. Meanwhile, Andy Pycroft will once again officiate as the match referee during the high voltage clash again.
