‘Outraged by Terror’: IPL Teams Unite in Mourning After Pahalgam Attack

The brutal assault on civilians in Kashmir's Pahalgam has drawn widespread condemnation, with IPL teams setting rivalries aside to show solidarity with the victims.

India remains in shock following the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which claimed the lives of at least 26 people most of them tourists. The incident has sparked national outrage and intensified calls for justice, as investigations reveal the use of advanced weapons and communications gear by the assailants.

Eyewitness accounts and forensic reports confirm that the attackers deliberately targeted civilians. Authorities suspect external involvement, with sources linking the operation to Pakistani handlers and suggesting the terrorists received logistical support.

IPL Franchises Condemn Pahalgam Terror Attack:
The Indian Premier League (IPL), which faced criticism for initially not acknowledging the attack during the Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals match, has since responded with a unified stance. During the Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad game, players will wear black armbands, a moment of silence will be observed, and cheerleaders will be absent as a mark of respect.

Franchises across the league have issued strong statements condemning the violence. Gujarat Titans were particularly vocal, stating, “We are outraged by the acts of terrorism in Pahalgam. Such violence has no place in our country. Our sincere condolences to the victims, their families, and everyone affected by the horrendous act.”

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Virat Kohli also addressed the tragedy on Instagram, expressing grief and demanding justice for the victims.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting Saudi Arabia at the time of the attack, returned to India immediately after news of the massacre broke, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the national sense of mourning.
