The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and New Zealand’s Ben Sears as the nominees for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2025, recognizing their standout performances across formats.
Fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani played a pivotal role in Zimbabwe’s historic Test win against Bangladesh in Sylhet. The 28-year-old pacer took 3/50 in the first innings and followed it up with a match-winning 6/72 in the second. His efforts earned him the Player of the Match award and helped Zimbabwe secure their first Test victory since March 2021. Muzarabani ended the series as Zimbabwe’s leading wicket-taker with 10 wickets at an average of 20.50.
Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz made his mark in the second Test of the same series. After taking 5/52 and 5/50 in the first match, he dominated the second Test with both bat and ball. Mehidy scored a vital 104 off 162 balls in Bangladesh’s first innings, propelling the team to a total of 444. He followed that with another five-wicket haul, recording figures of 5/32 to help Bangladesh secure an innings-and-106-run win in Chattogram and level the series 1-1.
Meanwhile, New Zealand pacer Ben Sears impressed in the ODI series against Pakistan. The right-arm quick delivered back-to-back five-wicket hauls in the final two matches. In the second ODI in Hamilton, Sears dismantled Pakistan’s middle order with figures of 5/59, contributing to New Zealand’s 84-run win. He continued his dominant form in the third ODI, taking 5/34 as the Blackcaps completed a 3-0 series sweep. Sears finished the series with 10 wickets at an average of 9.30 and was named Player of the Series.
