On May 16, 2025, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) formally inaugurated the “Rohit Sharma Stand” at Wankhede Stadium, recognizing the distinguished career of India’s cricket captain. Rohit now shares this prestigious tribute alongside cricket legends such as Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar, who also have stands named after them at the historic venue.
Situated on Level 3 of the Divecha Pavilion, the newly named stand was revealed during a ceremony that also honored former Indian skipper Ajit Wadekar and former BCCI President Sharad Pawar, each receiving dedicated stands. The MCA finalized this decision during their 86th Annual General Meeting, highlighting these individuals’ significant contributions to cricket in India.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma has had a remarkable relationship with Wankhede Stadium, evolving from his initial training sessions at Azad Maidan to guiding the national team to notable triumphs, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025.
