Lando Norris Wins Thrilling Wet Australian Grand Prix to Open 2025 F1 Season

In a dramatic start to the 2025 Formula 1 season, Lando Norris took the checkered flag at the Australian Grand Prix, held at Melbourne’s iconic Albert Park circuit. The McLaren driver excelled in tricky wet conditions, beating Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ George Russell to claim victory in the season opener.

Chaos on the Track

The race was full of action, with rain making the track slippery and causing several crashes. Australian driver Oscar Piastri spun out early, ending his home race prematurely. Veteran Fernando Alonso hit the wall, while Carlos Sainz crashed on his first race with Williams. Newcomers Jack Doohan and Isack Hadjar also fell victim to the conditions, as did Liam Lawson, who was making his debut for Red Bull.

Ferrari’s Strategy Falls Flat

Ferrari had a tough day despite high hopes following Lewis Hamilton’s big move to the team. Their choice to keep Hamilton and Charles Leclerc on the track as the rain got heavier didn’t work out. Both drivers struggled, finishing in 9th and 10th places, respectively, leaving the team disappointed.

Norris Shines, Verstappen and Russell Round Out Podium

Norris handled the wet track with skill, staying in control to secure his first win of the year. Verstappen fought hard but finished second, while Russell took third for Mercedes, completing the podium in a race full of twists and turns.

A Big Season Ahead

The 2025 season has kicked off with plenty of excitement, especially with Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari being a major storyline. However, after this opening race, Ferrari will need to regroup if they want to compete for the title. For now, it’s Norris and McLaren celebrating a well-earned victory in Melbourne.
