The IPL 2025 fixture between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, scheduled at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala, was abandoned on Thursday, May 8, after just 10.1 overs of play due to a major technical disruption.
According to an official statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the match listed as Match 58 in the Tata IPL had to be called off following a power outage that affected one of the stadium’s floodlight towers. The BCCI expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to spectators present at the venue.
While official IPL broadcasters attributed the interruption to a “floodlight malfunction,” a report by ESPNCricinfo offered further insight, stating that IPL authorities ordered the stadium to be cleared for “security reasons” linked to the issue.
