Mumbai Indians Crush Rajasthan Royals to Claim IPL 2025 Top Spot

Mumbai Indians delivered a commanding performance to secure a 100-run victory over Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, propelling them to the top of the IPL 2025 points table while eliminating their opponents from playoff contention.
Batting first after Rajasthan Royals opted to bowl, Mumbai Indians posted an imposing 217/2, driven by half-centuries from openers Ryan Rickelton (61 off 38 balls) and Rohit Sharma (53 off 36 balls). The pair forged a 116-run partnership, with Rickelton targeting the pace bowlers and Sharma exploiting the spinners, notably Maheesh Theekshana. Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandya, both unbeaten on 48 off 23 balls, added a blistering 94 runs in 46 balls to push the total beyond Rajasthan’s reach.
Rajasthan Royals’ chase faltered early, collapsing to 117 all out in 16.1 overs. The 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, fresh off a century against Gujarat Titans, was dismissed for a duck in the first over. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s aggressive 13 ended with a stumps-shattering delivery from Trent Boult, while stand-in captain Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer also fell cheaply. Mumbai’s bowling attack, led by Karn Sharma and Boult (3 wickets each) and supported by Jasprit Bumrah (2/15), dismantled the Royals’ batting lineup, with five wickets falling inside the powerplay.
Mumbai’s clinical execution, marking their sixth consecutive win and their first victory over Rajasthan in Jaipur since 2012. Suryakumar Yadav’s 11th consecutive IPL score of 25 or more surpassed Robin Uthappa’s record, earning him the Orange Cap lead, while Boult climbed to third in the Purple Cap standings. Rajasthan Royals, with only three wins in 11 matches, became the second team after Chennai Super Kings to exit the playoff race.
