IPL Final : Bengaluru Boys Will Win In Ahmedabad Says Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar

New Delhi : As Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prepare for their long-awaited shot at IPL glory, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has publicly backed the franchise to go all the way in the 2025 final in Ahmedabad. Shivakumar noted that the team’s journey to the summit clash has reignited excitement across the state. With RCB returning to the IPL final after years of near-misses and heartbreaks, he said the government and fans are fully behind the squad in their bid for a maiden title.

“I am happy. Bengaluru boys, RCB, will win in Ahmedabad. After a very long time, they have come to the finals,” Shivakumar told reporters. The Deputy CM also pointed out that a significant number of supporters from Karnataka are expected to be in attendance at the Narendra Modi Stadium, hoping to witness history. “The government of Karnataka and the people of Karnataka are waiting for their victory. A lot of people from Karnataka are going to watch the match in Ahmedabad. Let us hope and pray that they win and come back,” he added.

RCB earned their place in the final after a commanding victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1. A disciplined bowling effort saw Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma take three wickets apiece to restrict PBKS to just 101. In reply, opener Phil Salt produced a blistering 56 off 27 balls, as the chase was wrapped up inside 10 overs. PBKS, however, bounced back strongly in Qualifier 2, knocking out five-time champions Mumbai Indians.

After MI posted a challenging 203/6, powered by quickfire 44s from Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, it was Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 87 and Nehal Wadhera’s 48 that steered Punjab into the final with an over remaining. Now, with both RCB and PBKS vying for their first IPL crown, the 2025 final is set to deliver a new champion — a moment fans from both sides have been waiting over a decade for.
