India’s Matches Are Still Four Months Away, but Tickets Already ‘SOLD OUT’

Melbourne: The Indian cricket team’s tour to Australia — consisting of One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 matches — is still four months away, but the Australian Cricket Board has already sold 90,000 tickets for the eight matches. Among those, all tickets for India’s ODI match in Sydney and the T20 match in Canberra have already been sold out.
India will tour Australia in October-November, during which they will play three ODIs and five T20Is. The Sydney match will be the third in the series, while the T20 match in Canberra will be the first. The final match of the tour is scheduled to be played in Brisbane on November 8.
In a statement, Cricket Australia (CA) said:
“There has been an overwhelming response to the October-November series between Australia and India, particularly from fans of Indian origin. More than 16% of the tickets have been purchased by Indian fan clubs. Tickets for the matches in Sydney and Canberra are already sold out. There’s also been tremendous response for the T20s scheduled in Melbourne and at the Gabba (Brisbane).”
According to the board, the fan club “Bharat Army” is one of the most active when it comes to ticket purchases, having bought 2,400 tickets. Another group, “Fans India”, acquired 1,400 tickets. A record was set by Amit Goyal from the Agarwal community’s “Brissy Baniyas” club, who bought 880 tickets for the T20 at the Gabba, making him the highest individual ticket buyer for a single match.
Indian community clubs like Gold Coast and Pakka Local have also bought over 500 tickets each for the T20 matches in Gold Coast and Melbourne.
