England levels the contest with a fightback – second innings could decide the result
India: 2/96 in 2nd innings, including lead

Leeds: On Day 3 of the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England (live from 3:30 PM), India gained a narrow 6-run first innings lead after strong English fightback. But India had a shaky start in the second innings before KL Rahul once again provided some stability with a steady partnership.
At stumps on Day 3, India’s second innings score stood at 90/2 (with the lead included, it was 96/2). Rahul was unbeaten on 47, while captain Shubman Gill was batting on 6. England had earlier posted 465 runs in reply to India’s 471 in the first innings.
First-innings centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for just 4 runs in the second innings. KL Rahul then partnered with debutant Sai Sudharsan to stitch a 66-run stand. England skipper and pacer Ben Stokes again dismissed Sudharsan, who made 30 off 48 balls with four boundaries. Notably, Sudharsan was the top run-scorer in IPL 2025.
Bumrah equals Kapil Dev’s overseas record
In England’s first innings of 465 runs, Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets (24.4–5–85–5). Prasidh Krishna claimed 3 wickets including prize wicket of Harry Brook and Mohammed Siraj got 2.
Bumrah has now equaled Kapil Dev’s Indian record for the most five-wicket hauls (12) in overseas Tests.

England’s lower order added 189 runs

The real resistance came from the tail: Chris Woakes (38 off 55), Jamie Smith (40 off 52), Brydon Carse (22 off 23), Josh Tongue (11 off 18).
In contrast to India losing their last five wickets for just 24 runs on Saturday, England added 189 runs for their last five wickets on Sunday.
