IND vs NZ: India Announces ODI Squad vs New Zealand: Hardik Pandya Dropped, Gill To Lead

Mumbai: India has announced its squad for the three-match One Day International series against New Zealand, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirming that the senior men’s selection committee has finalized the lineup for the IDFC First Bank ODI series beginning January 11.

Shubman Gill will captain the side, with Shreyas Iyer named vice-captain. However, Iyer’s participation remains contingent on receiving fitness clearance.

The squad features a blend of experience and youth, with senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both included. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been picked as wicketkeepers. The all-rounder slots go to Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja, while the spin department will be led by Kuldeep Yadav.

The pace attack comprises Mohammad Siraj, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh. Batting options include Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

In a significant omission, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been left out of the squad. The BCCI clarified that Pandya has not been cleared to bowl a full 10-over quota in a match, and his workload is being carefully managed with an eye on the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
