No Team Matches India When It Comes to Showers of Sixes And Fours
England Drop Six Catches – First Such Instance in Seven Years

London: England began the five-match Test series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with a win in Leeds. But now, India have the chance to level the series 2-2 with a win in the final Test at The Oval (starting 3:30 PM IST). Before that, let’s take a quick look at some fascinating stats from yesterday’s play.
In an era dominated by T20 cricket, India have lit up this Test series with a flurry of boundaries – so much so that it has rewritten 148 years of Test history.
Fours and sixes together are classified as Boundaries, and in this category, India now stand as world champions in Test cricket. Across the ongoing Test series against England, Indian batters have collectively struck 422 fours and 48 sixes. That adds up to 470 Boundaries – creating a new world record for the most Boundaries in a single Test series.
Until now, the record was held by Australia, who had hit a total of 460 Boundaries (451 fours and 9 sixes) during the 1993 Ashes series against England. That record now stands broken.
On Saturday, England’s fielders dropped a total of six catches – three of them giving lifelines to centurion opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The other reprieves went to Sai Sudharsan, Akash Deep, and Karun Nair – one each.
This is the first time since 2018 that England have dropped six catches in a single Test innings. Previously, they dropped six against India in the 2022 Edgbaston Test, and again in 2023 against New Zealand in Wellington.
