ICC showers record prize money on Women’s World Cup winners – higher than men’s tournament!

Dubai: The ICC has announced a historic hike in prize money for the Women’s ODI World Cup starting September 30, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The champion team, to be crowned on November 2, will receive $4.48 million (₹39.55 crore) – over three times last edition’s payout and even surpassing the men’s ODI World Cup prize pool.
Matches will be played across Guwahati, Indore, Navi Mumbai, Visakhapatnam in India, and Colombo in Sri Lanka. The move aims to promote women’s cricket globally and bring gender parity in rewards.

In the previous edition, champions Australia got $1.32 million (₹11.65 crore). The overall prize pool has now surged from $3.5 million (₹31 crore) to $13.88 million (₹122.5 crore), a whopping 297% increase.

For comparison, the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup had a total purse of $10 million (₹88.26 crore).
Women’s World Cup Prize Money Breakdown:
- Total Prize Pool: $13.88M (₹122.5 crore)
- Champions: $4.48M (₹39.55 crore)
- Runners-up: $2.24M (₹19.77 crore)
- Losing Semi-finalists (each): $1.12M (₹9.89 crore)
- Per Group Stage Win: $34,314 (₹30.29 lakh)
- 5th-6th Place (each): $700,000 (₹62 lakh)
- 7th-8th Place (each): $280,000 (₹24.71 lakh)
- Participation Fee (each team): $250,000 (₹22 lakh)
