Gautam Gambhir Decides To Fly Back To England To Join India Squad Before Test Series

New Delhi : India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir is set to rejoin the Indian cricket team in England after his mother’s health condition improved. Seema Gambhir, his mother, had suffered a heart attack on June 11 and was admitted to the ICU in Delhi. Following this emergency, Gambhir had flown back to India.

Now, with her condition reportedly stable, Gambhir has decided to return to England on Monday to resume his coaching duties ahead of the five-Test series starting June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.

During Gambhir’s absence, Ryan ten Doeschate, Morne Morkel, and Sitansh Kotak managed the team. Reports also mentioned that the BCCI had approached VVS Laxman, head of the NCA, to step in temporarily if needed.

Gambhir’s decision reflects his long-standing professional ethic — putting the team’s goals above personal concerns, a trait he had also shown as a player.
