Deepti Sharma Creates History, Becomes Highest Wicket-Taker In Women’s T20I Cricket

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma etched her name in cricket history on Tuesday, surpassing the record for most wickets in women’s T20 Internationals during the fifth match against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.

Deepti now holds 152 wickets in the format, moving ahead of Australia’s Megan Schutt, who had 151 dismissals. The Indian spinner achieved this milestone in her 130th innings, while Schutt reached her total in 122 innings. Pakistan’s Nida Dar occupies third position with 144 wickets from 152 innings.

The record-breaking moment came when Deepti trapped Nilakshika Silva leg before wicket. She finished the match with figures of one for 28 from four overs as India successfully defended 175 runs, winning by 15 runs to complete a 5-0 series whitewash.

Among Indian bowlers, Radha Yadav ranks second on the all-time wicket-takers list with 103 dismissals in 86 innings. Deepti and Radha remain the only two Indian bowlers to cross the 100-wicket mark in T20 Internationals.
