BCCI and Cricketer’s Independence Day Greetings to The Nation

New Delhi: Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Irfan Pathan, VVS Laxman and many other cricketers took to social media to extend greetings to the people of India on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. The BCCI also posted Independence Day wishes to the nation on its official ‘X’ handle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address this morning, praised the contribution and progress of Indian sports. He emphasized the importance of building a developed India, including the role of the sporting sector in the nation’s growth. He also mentioned about the new National Sports Policy.

Vadodara-based star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who played a key role in India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph as well as this year’s Champions Trophy in the ODI format, posted on X saying, “Happy Independence Day, India,” along with a picture of himself with the national tricolour.

Batsman Tilak Varma, who has represented India in 25 T20 internationals and four ODIs, wrote in his message to fans and the nation: “Playing for India has been my biggest motivation and inspiration. Representing the country on the global stage is my greatest pride. Wishing all my fellow Indians a Happy Independence Day.”

Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan, also from Vadodara and a member of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy-winning squads, wrote on X: “My greetings to every Indian on Independence Day. Our freedom was hard-earned, and it is our duty to preserve it. We must fulfill this responsibility with mutual respect and unity.”

VVS Laxman, extending his wishes, said: “Our freedom was a gift earned through countless sacrifices. It is now our responsibility to work every single day towards building a brighter and stronger nation so that future generations feel proud. Jai Hind.”
