Auction Hero Cameron Green, Zero At Adelaide

Alex Carey and Khawaja save the team’s honour, Australia 8/326

Adelaide: Just fifteen hours after being bought by Kolkata for ₹25.20 crore against a base price of ₹2.00 crore at the mini auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday—making him the most expensive overseas player of the tournament—Australian all-rounder Cameron Green suffered a setback on home soil. In the Ashes Test against England, Green was dismissed for a duck (zero).

Cameron Green was caught by Brydon Carse off the bowling of Jofra Archer in Australia’s first innings of the third Test. He faced only one ball and lost his wicket on the second delivery.

Alex Carey’s century

Travis Head (10), Jake Fraser-McGurk (18), and Marnus Labuschagne (19) were also dismissed cheaply, but the partnership between Alex Carey (106) and Usman Khawaja (82), who batted for more than 125 balls together, helped restore the team’s pride.

Australia 8/326 on Day One

At the end of the first day’s play, Australia were 8 for 326. Australia lead the series 2–0.
