Tributes Paid to Ahmedabad Plane Crash Victims at Wankhede and in Amstelveen

Mumbai/Amstelveen: A heartfelt tribute was paid yesterday to the victims of the tragic plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad. The victims included passengers, crew members, and people near the airport who lost their lives due to the crash.

About 300 people died in this incident.

At Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, a moment of silence was observed before the start of the T20 Mumbai League Final, with officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association present on the occasion. A condolence message was also displayed on the big screen at the stadium, as a mark of respect for the deceased. The final match was played between Mumbai Falcons and Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals.

Meanwhile, in Amstelveen, Netherlands, players from India and Argentina’s hockey teams also paid tribute during their FIH Pro League match. The teams observed a moment of silence in memory of the plane crash victims.

Despite a strong fight, India lost the hockey match 1-2 to Argentina. Jugraj Singh scored India’s only goal in the 4th minute. However, India couldn’t break through Argentina’s strong defense for the remainder of the match.

This marked India’s fourth consecutive defeat in the Pro League. The Indian team will now travel to Antwerp, Belgium, for two upcoming matches each against Australia and Belgium.
