After Bruno’s blunder, One sarcastic comment read: “Were you trying to send the ball to the moon?”

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has come under heavy criticism from fans after missing a crucial penalty against Fulham in Sunday’s English Premier League (EPL) clash. The match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw, and frustrated supporters vented their anger on social media. One sarcastic comment read: “Were you trying to send the ball to the moon?”

United’s only goal came courtesy of an own goal by Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz in the 58th minute, putting the visitors ahead. But Emil Smith Rowe equalized for Fulham in the 73rd minute. Earlier, in the 38th minute, United had a golden opportunity when Mason Mount was fouled inside the box by Calvin Bassey, leading to the penalty that Fernandes squandered.

Fans were unforgiving. Some even called for the Portuguese playmaker to be sold, with one post saying: “After this blunder, United should just sell Bruno to another team.”

The miss was particularly shocking given Fernandes’ consistency from the spot. He had converted 11 consecutive penalties since his last miss against Chelsea in December 2023. This was the first time in nearly three years that United’s designated penalty taker failed from 12 yards.
