Shikhar Dhawan Warns of Legal Action After Name Used in Tournament Team with Pakistani Players

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has threatened legal action against the organisers of the World T20 Continent Cup after his name was listed as a participant without his consent.

Dhawan was named in the Asia Warriors squad for the tournament. The 24-member side also includes several Pakistani players such as Sohail Tanvir, Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Imran Khan. Other Indian names listed in the same team include former players Rahul Sharma, Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Abhimanyu Mithun.

In a post on X, Dhawan stated that his name had been used by the organisers without his knowledge or permission. He said his team would take appropriate legal steps and requested fans and others not to report or rely on any unauthorised announcements regarding his participation. He categorically denied any association with the event.

The reported inclusion drew attention because of Dhawan’s earlier public statements against Pakistan. During Operation Sindoor in 2025 and in the period following the Pahalgam terror attack, he had expressed strong criticism of Pakistan in social media posts.

Dhawan has asked supporters to disregard any claims linking him to the tournament.
