Chinmay Sutar Smashes 400 Not Out! Mumbai Cricketer’s Son Joins Bradman and Lara in Elite First-Class Record Books

Sovima (Nagaland): Chinmay Sutar, the 29-year-old son of former Mumbai batsman Rajesh Sutar, who once opened the innings for Mumbai alongside the ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar, has created history in Indian cricket, particularly in the Ranji Trophy. Chinmay scored an unbeaten 400 off 517 balls, hitting seven sixes and 46 fours. He has become only the second Indian cricketer to score 400 runs in a single innings of a first-class match, joining the elite company of legendary batsmen Sir Don Bradman and Brian Lara.

Second Indian to Achieve the Feat in 78 Years

Mumbai-born Chinmay Sutar, 29, represented Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this year. However, after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Mumbai, he is now playing for Mizoram in the Ranji Trophy.

Before this match, Chinmay had played only one first-class game, scoring a total of 134 runs across his two innings. But in just his second first-class match, he produced a remarkable unbeaten 400.

By reaching the milestone, Chinmay became only the second Indian after Bhausaheb Babasaheb Nimbalkar, originally from Kolhapur, to achieve the feat. Nimbalkar scored an unbeaten 443 for Maharashtra against Kathiawar in Pune in 1948, 78 years ago. He batted for 494 minutes, hitting one six and 49 fours.

Incredible 190-Run Partnership for the Last Wicket!

On Monday, as Chinmay completed his 400th run, Mizoram captain Joseph Lalthankhuma declared the innings at 581/9.

Chinmay came in at No. 3 after the fall of the first wicket and went on to build eight partnerships of varying lengths. He watched eight of his teammates get dismissed one after another but remained unbeaten on 400.

Among his notable partnerships was a 168-run stand with Manender Singh, who contributed 27 runs. Chinmay then joined forces with Lalrempu nia Chhakchhuak, who remained unbeaten on 14, to put together an extraordinary unbroken 190-run partnership for the 10th wicket.

After Mizoram lost its ninth wicket at 392, Chinmay and Lalrempu nia Chhakchhuak added 190 runs, exhausting the bowling attack and fielders of hosts Nagaland.

After Mizoram declared at 581/9, Nagaland lost one wicket for 50 runs.
