IND vs NED : Meet Aryan Dutt; The Indian-Origin Dutch Bowler Who Troubled India

Indian-Origin Dutch Bowler Aryan Dutt Shines With Key Wickets Against India

Ahmedabad : During India’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A fixture against the Netherlands in Ahmedabad, Dutch bowler Aryan Dutt, who has Indian roots, drew attention by dismissing two of India’s top batters, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan.

Who is Aryan Dutt ?

Born on 12 May 2003 in The Hague, Dutt is a right-arm off-break bowler representing the Netherlands national cricket team. His parents originally come from Punjab and settled in the Netherlands in the 1980s, and Dutt spent much of his formative cricketing years there. At age 13, he also trained in Chandigarh, India, to hone his spin bowling under conditions that favoured turn.

Dutt made his international debut as a teenager in 2021, appearing in a T20 match against Nepal in Kirtipur, although he had a quiet start with figures of 0/19 in that game. Since then, he has progressed steadily, achieving a milestone in 2024 by becoming the first Dutch bowler to claim six wickets in an ODI, helping his side defeat Namibia in the World Cup League 2. He also made headlines in 2022 by dismissing Nicholas Pooran in all three matches of an ODI series against the West Indies.

In the ongoing World Cup, Dutt’s bowling has been productive. He has appeared in 29 T20Is taking 28 wickets, and across 53 ODIs he has claimed 62 dismissals, according to career records. His performance against India, particularly dismissing Sharma for a duck and getting Kishan out for 18, highlights his growing role in the Dutch bowling attack.

Although the Netherlands were already eliminated at this stage, Dutt’s display provided a memorable moment in the clash with India.
