After Ghibli Trend ChatGPT’s New Feature Makes Conversations Feel More Human | Check Details

San Francisco: OpenAI has introduced a major enhancement to ChatGPT, enabling it to remember previous user conversations to deliver more personalized and context-aware responses. The update was announced via OpenAI’s official account on X (formerly Twitter).

How this feature works

Although ChatGPT previously included limited memory features, this latest update significantly expands its capabilities. The AI can now retain information such as user preferences, goals, and prior queries, allowing it to generate replies that feel more tailored and continuous across sessions.

OpenAI assured users that privacy remains a top priority. The memory function is optional and can be turned off completely. Users who had previously disabled memory are automatically excluded from this upgrade. Furthermore, ChatGPT can provide a summary of what it remembers about the user, and users can request changes at any time.

For conversations that require complete privacy, users can still opt for temporary chats, which neither store nor access personal data.

Rollout Details

The upgraded memory feature is being gradually rolled out to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers. However, it is currently unavailable in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. OpenAI confirmed that users on Team, Enterprise, and Education plans will gain access to the feature in the coming weeks.

In a related update, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared a post on X discussing the development of GPT-4.5. He highlighted a podcast featuring key contributors Alex Paino, Dan Selsam, and @atootoon. While the full episode is yet to release, several preview clips are already available.
