Zubeen Garg Death Case : Lookout Notices Issued Against North East India Festival Organiser And Manager

New Delhi : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced that lookout notices have been issued against North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta. Sarma said both Mahanta and Sharma must appear in Guwahati on October 6 to record their statements before the probe team. As the Durga Puja festival will begin, we don’t want them to come right now. But after Dashami, they have to come. They must come to Guwahati on October 6 and present their statements, he said.
The chief minister clarified that if the two choose not to appear before the team which is investigating the case, they may approach the court. If they do not want to present themselves before the CID, they can approach the court,” he noted. The Assam government has formed a 10-member SIT, comprising CID officers, headed by Special DGP MP Gupta to probe Zubeen’s death.
Initial reports suggested that Garg died during a scuba diving incident. However, his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, claimed that the singer suffered a seizure while swimming at Singapore’s Lazarus Island, dismissing claims of an incident linked to scuba diving. Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most celebrated singers, died after reportedly drowning in the sea in Singapore on September 19.
Sarma also revealed that Mahanta’s bank accounts and credit cards have been frozen. “He cannot remain outside for long,” the chief minister said, adding that the government was awaiting Garg’s autopsy report from Singapore. A second post-mortem was also carried out at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, and its report is ready.
