Who is Radhika Yadav, The Tennis Player Shot Dead by Own Father Over Social Media Dispute

Gurugram: Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old state-level tennis player, was fatally shot by her father at their family home in Sector 57, Gurugram, on Thursday morning, police confirmed. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 am, stemmed from a heated argument over a social media video reel posted by Yadav.

According to PTI, the altercation escalated when Yadav’s father, enraged by the post, allegedly fired three shots from his licensed revolver. Yadav was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Sandeep Kumar, Gurugram Police’s public relations officer, told PTI that preliminary investigations point to the social media post as the trigger. “The father became agitated and shot her. The revolver has been recovered,” Kumar said.

Rajender Kumar, Station House Officer at Sector 56 Police Station, added that the police were alerted by the hospital about a woman admitted with gunshot wounds. “By the time we reached, she had passed away. Family statements confirmed the father’s involvement,” he told PTI.

Unrelated Gurugram Incident
In a separate case reported by PTI, a 30-year-old man, Ketan, allegedly strangled his 27-year-old wife, Jyoti, in Gurugram’s Rajendra Park on Sunday after a domestic dispute. Ketan, employed at Jewar Airport’s cargo department, surrendered to the Anand Garden police chowki around 6 pm, admitting to the crime. The couple, married for six years with two children, had argued after Jyoti slapped Ketan. Police recovered Jyoti’s body from their home.
