Who is Fahim Khan? Uncovering the Alleged Mastermind Behind Nagpur Violence; Full Details Inside

Nagpur: Police have identified Minorities Democratic Party leader Fahim Khan as the alleged mastermind behind the violent clashes that erupted in Nagpur on Monday evening. A second FIR, registered at Ganeshpeth police station, accuses Khan of inciting a crowd of about 500 people, sparking widespread chaos.
According to the FIR, Khan—who also served as the MDP city president and previously contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Nagpur—played a central role in mobilizing the demonstrators. The violence reportedly saw protesters armed with axes, stones, sticks, and other weapons storming the area with the apparent aim of disturbing social harmony and inciting religious tensions.
The mob’s assault was particularly brutal in the Bhhaldarpura Chowk area, where police officers were pelted with stones and other objects. In a bid to hamper law enforcement efforts, the rioters also hurled petrol bombs. Amid the chaos, some individuals took advantage of the darkness to harass female police personnel. The FIR details that an officer from the Rapid Response Team was physically assaulted, while other women officers endured obscene gestures and inappropriate remarks. Additionally, vehicles were attacked, set ablaze, and properties vandalized during the rampage.
In response to the violence, police have launched an intensive crackdown to identify and arrest those involved. Security remains tight in the affected zones, with curfews imposed to prevent further disturbances.
