Senior BJP ministers are expected to hold discussions with India Bloc leaders before the bill is presented in Parliament, sources said. The ongoing Budget session of Parliament is scheduled to conclude on April 4.
Bill must be passed by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to take effect. The legislation seeks to restructure the governance of Waqf boards, which manage properties designated for religious and charitable purposes within the Muslim community.
The Union Cabinet recently cleared the bill after incorporating recommendations from the joint committee, setting the stage for its parliamentary debate. The bill was originally introduced in the Lok Sabha by Rijiju.
