Wanted Criminal Gunned Down in Jamshedpur Shootout

A notorious criminal with a Rs 2.5 lakh bounty on his head was fatally shot during a confrontation with law enforcement in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, authorities confirmed on Saturday. The encounter unfolded in a dramatic exchange of gunfire, pitting the suspect against a combined force of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) and Jharkhand Police.

According to Amitabh Yash, Additional Director General of Police (UP STF, law and order), the deceased, identified as Anuj Kanaujia, was a known gunman affiliated with the Mukhtar gang. “Kanaujia, who had a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh on him, was killed in Jamshedpur following intense firing between the joint team and the criminal,” Yash stated, underscoring the operation’s high stakes.
