Travel Vlogger’s Ordeal Sparks Safety Concerns on Indian Train

A travel vlogger, Kanika Devrani, has reported a disturbing incident of being drugged and robbed aboard the Brahmaputra Mail train while traveling from Delhi to Guwahati. The alleged crime took place at New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station in West Bengal, where Devrani claims an unauthorized individual entered the 2AC coach. In a video shared on Instagram, she recounted how a passenger on the upper berth sprayed a substance that caused her to lose consciousness, during which her phone and other belongings were stolen. Other passengers in the coach reportedly faced similar thefts.

Devrani noted that she had a brief interaction with the individual, who inquired about seat numbers before the incident occurred. The vlogger expressed frustration over the lack of security, highlighting that the intruder appeared to board the train without a ticket. In response to her video, Railway Seva, the official railway customer service account on X, stated that the matter had been escalated to the relevant authorities for action.
