Uttarakhand Announces Winter Closing Dates for Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Temples – Check Here

DEHRADUN: On the occasion of Vijayadashami, officials on Thursday announced the winter closing dates of Uttarakhand’s four prominent Char Dham shrines Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

According to the Shri Badri-Kedar Temple Committee, Kedarnath Temple will close its portals to devotees on October 23, coinciding with the festival of Bhaiya Dooj, while Badrinath Dham will shut on November 25. Committee president Hemant Dwivedi made the formal announcement.

As per the schedule, the Gangotri Temple in Uttarkashi district will close for the season on October 22, followed by Yamunotri Temple on October 23. Once the portals are closed, rituals and prayers will continue for devotees at Mukhwa (for Gangotri) and Kharsali (for Yamunotri) during the six-month winter period.

Meanwhile, the Char Dham Yatra is drawing to a close but continues to see a steady influx of pilgrims. Since its commencement on April 30, more than 4.5 million devotees have visited the sacred shrines, officials said.
