US Embassy warns: Indian Student Visas at Risk for Dropouts

Indian students cautioned about maintaining enrollment status to preserve visa eligibility

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the United States Embassy in India issued a warning to international students enrolled in American educational institutions, stating that failure to notify schools about academic departures could result in visa cancellation.

The diplomatic mission emphasized through a social media post on X that students who abandon their studies, fail to attend classes, or withdraw from their academic programs without proper school notification face potential visa revocation.

The Embassy’s statement highlighted the importance of compliance with visa conditions, stressing that students must “maintain your student status” to prevent complications with their immigration standing.

According to the warning, students who violate these requirements by discontinuing their education without following proper procedures may not only lose their current student visas but could also become ineligible for future United States visas.

The Embassy’s message concluded with clear guidance: “Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues.”
