UP’s Ballia: Two Held for Killing Photographer Over Viral Instagram Pic

A 24-year-old photographer, Chandan Bind, was brutally killed in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly over a viral Instagram photo of a married woman. The woman’s brother, Surendra Yadav, and cousin, Rohit Yadav, were arrested on charges of the murder. Police stated that Bind had gone ahead and made the woman’s photos viral on Instagram, infuriating her family and in-laws, creating tension and ultimately his murder.
At about midnight on the evening of March 18, Bind was inveigled out to a desolate farm lot by Surendra, who feigned a friendship with him. There, Surendra and Rohit attacked Bind and stabbed him several times before dumping his body into a field of wheat. The body of Bind was found five days later, on March 23, triggering an investigation. Police arrested both Surendra and Rohit on Monday, and the knives used in the murder, three in number, were recovered.
Bind had kept in touch with the woman after her marriage, which annoyed her family. In retaliation, Surendra hatched a conspiracy. A case has been lodged under relevant sections for murder and tampering with evidence. Investigations are underway as officials gather facts about the crime.
