Tragedy Strikes Bhadohi: Two Children Dead, Two Missing After Mother Jumps into Pond

A devastating incident unfolded in Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday morning when a 35-year-old woman leapt into a pond with her three young children, resulting in the deaths of two of them. Authorities reported that the woman and one child remain missing as rescue efforts continue.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. in Sherpur Gopaliha village, according to Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik. The woman, identified as Annu Devi, entered the water with her children: eight-year-old Diksha, six-year-old Suryansh, and three-year-old Divyansh.

Police were alerted and quickly arrived at the scene, where they collaborated with local residents and divers to search the pond. “We recovered the bodies of Diksha and Divyansh from the deeper sections of the water,” Manglik told. Despite extensive efforts, Annu Devi and her son Suryansh have yet to be located.

A rescue operation, supported by fire department personnel and expert divers, is ongoing to find the missing pair. SP Manglik noted that the motive behind the woman’s drastic action remains unclear at this stage.

The tragedy has left the community in shock as authorities work to uncover the circumstances that led to this heartbreaking event.
