Kanpur : A 50-year-old man fatally shot his father, the millionaire owner of a prominent Indian beedi brand, before turning the gun on himself. The victim, Suresh Chand Agarwal, was the owner of the Dinesh 555 beedi brand, a company he founded in 1977. He had been battling cancer. Meanwhile, his son, Naresh Agarwal, struggled with a drinking problem, which frequently led to disputes with his father.
On Friday, Suresh Chand and Naresh Agarwal again argued over the latter’s drinking problem. In a fit of rage, Naresh shot his father with his licensed revolver. Realising the gravity of his actions, he then turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the head. Both father and son died on the spot. Suresh Chand Agarwal had expanded his multi-crore beedi business to several states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
The father was injured by the gunshot. Seeing this, Naresh became scared. Then Naresh shot himself in the temple with the same pistol. He also fell and was injured at the same spot. The pistol is licensed and is registered in Naresh’s name. Family members took both injured to Ram Krishna Mission Hospital in Vrindavan. Where doctors declared father Suresh Chandra Agarwal and son Naresh Agarwal dead. Police reached the spot on information. Police have questioned family members and gathered other information.
Daughter Shreya is studying medicine in Moradabad. Son Shaurya is doing B.Tech in Bangalore. The youngest son, Mahesh, lives with his wife, Ashu, and son Krishna and daughter Riya. Both his children study outside. Shot in chest with pistol Today at 9 PM, Naresh was going home to drink alcohol. During this time, Father Suresh Chandra Agarwal forbade Naresh from drinking. An argument started between them. The dispute escalated significantly. In anger, Naresh shot his father, Suresh Chand Agarwal, in the chest with a 32-bore pistol.
