Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Vows Strong Reply To Those Who Plotted Attack

New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday issued a stern message to the terrorists and orchestrators of the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, vowing that India would identify and bring to justice everyone who conspired against it.

The victims, according to reports and witness accounts, were targeted based on their religious identity by terrorists, who were operatives of The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Pakistani terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). We will not only reach out to those who have perpetrated this incident. We will also reach out to those who, sitting behind the scenes, have conspired to commit such nefarious acts on the soil of India,” the Defence Minister said while speaking at an event in New Delhi.

Rajnath Singh’s remarks came soon after he chaired a high-level meeting with senior defence officials to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of the terror attack. According to reports, the nearly two-and-a-half-hour meeting was attended by National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and Air Chief Marshal AK Singh.

Several meetings on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir have taken place since terrorists opened fire on civilians in the picturesque Baisaran in Pahalgam at around 3 pm on April 22.
