Two Isi-backed Terrorists Injured In Punjab Encounter Near Ludhiana; Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Links Uncovered

Punjab Police on Thursday conducted an anti-terror operation in Ludhiana, exposing an ISI-backed multi-state gangster-terror module with connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The encounter occurred near the Ladowal Toll Plaza on the Delhi-Amritsar National Highway. According to preliminary reports, police had arrested terrorists from Haryana and Bihar a day earlier along with hand grenades.

During their interrogation, information about additional suspects emerged. Following this intelligence, police set up a trap to apprehend them. However, when officers closed in, the suspects opened fire. Police returned fire, and two terrorists were injured in the exchange.

One of them is reported to be in critical condition. They were initially admitted to a private hospital and are now being transferred to the civil hospital. Police recovered two hand grenades, four pistols, and more than 50 cartridges from the scene.

As soon as news of the encounter emerged, Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma arrived at the location. He stated this was a terror module operating with support from Pakistan’s ISI. They were planning a major attack. However, the Police Commissioner noted that it is premature to provide further details.

Punjab Police investigations have previously uncovered that the ISI has created an “inter-operational and inter-changeable” network of organized criminals, foreign-based terrorists, and drug smugglers operating together, with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang playing a key role in this nexus.
