Indian intelligence agencies have disrupted a significant espionage operation connected to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), apprehending two individuals in Delhi suspected of planning a terrorist attack. The operation, which culminated in the arrests, was the result of a three-month covert investigation that began with a tip in January about a Pakistani operative tasked with gathering sensitive military information.
The probe revealed suspicions about certain staff members at the Pakistani High Commission in Delhi, with ISI officers Muzammil and Ehsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, allegedly involved in the plot. These officers are believed to have been communicating with Indian YouTubers and other detained spies as part of the broader crackdown following Operation Sindoor, a military response to a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. The operation targeted nine terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, linked to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
One of the arrested individuals, Ansarul Miya Ansari, a Pakistani operative, was reportedly assigned to collect critical data, including documents, photographs, and Google coordinates, after entering Delhi via Nepal. The two suspects are now held in Tihar jail’s high-security wing, with authorities maintaining strict surveillance to prevent any attempts to influence other inmates. A senior officer emphasized the agencies’ commitment to staying ahead in this “cat-and-mouse game” to safeguard national security.
