Tragedy Strikes: Six Farm Workers Feared Dead After Tractor Plunges into Well in Maharashtra

A devastating accident in Maharashtra’s Nanded district has left six farm laborers presumed dead after a tractor they were riding plunged into a well on Friday morning, according to local police. The incident took place around 7:30 a.m. in Alegaon village, as the group was en route to a turmeric harvest.

A Nanded police official reported that the tractor, carrying at least 10 passengers, lost control on a slippery stretch of terrain, likely due to recent rainfall, before tumbling into the well. While two or three individuals managed to escape the calamity, six others are believed to have perished in the water-filled well.

Rescue operations are actively underway, though authorities have yet to recover any bodies or locate the submerged tractor. “The well is completely full, making it difficult to spot the vehicle,” the official explained, noting that additional information is still forthcoming as the situation develops.
