Thalapathy Vijay Film Makers File Urgent Plea In Madras High Court Over Delay
Chennai : The makers of Jana Nayagan, actor Vijay’s anticipated farewell film, has submitted an urgent petition to the Madras High Court on behalf of the production company, KVN Productions. The Madras High Court is scheduled to hear the urgent petition at 2:15 pm, as the film’s makers seek immediate redress. According to reports, the filmmakers submitted Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, to the CBFC on December 18.
While the board suggested minor edits, the filmmakers promptly agreed to the changes. However, the certificate remains pending. The delay has led to significant uncertainty for cinema owners and audiences across Tamil Nadu. Advance ticket sales for both Jana Nayagan and Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi have been put on hold as both films await their censor certificates. Theatres have responded by delaying booking windows, leaving fans eager to secure tickets and unable to do so.
With Jana Nayagan set for release on January 9 and Parasakthi on January 10, the situation has created a lot of anticipation and concern among theatre operators and moviegoers alike. Meanwhile, representatives from Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), have expressed frustration over the delay. Earlier today, Deputy General Secretary CT Nirmal Kumar issued a warning to the CBFC, stating there are only a few hours left for certification to be completed before the party considers further action.
He said, “The deadline for CBFC certification is in the next few hours, or we will take our next step. We will discuss with Vijay and decide the course of action. Members of the CBFC have been sitting on the movie certificate since mid-December. Despite the unavailability of a censor certificate, tickets for Jana Nayagan have been opened in a few theatres across the country.
