Tata Group Announces Rs 1 Crore Compensation For Victims Of Ahmedabad Plane Crash; Medical Support For Injured

Ahmedabad: In the aftermath of the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad, the Tata Group has pledged Rs 1 crore in compensation to the families of each individual who lost their life. The group will also cover all medical expenses for those injured in the tragedy.
The crash, which occurred on Thursday shortly after takeoff, involved Air India Flight AI171 en route from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crash has resulted in the death of 290 people on board, including 242 passengers. Authorities have confirmed a significant number of fatalities.
In an official statement, Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran expressed deep sorrow over the incident: “With profound grief, I confirm that Air India Flight 171 was involved in a tragic accident today. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those affected. We are committed to supporting them through this unimaginable time.”
He further added that the Tata Group, which operates Air India, is not only providing financial support to bereaved families but is also ensuring that injured survivors receive the best possible medical treatment.
In addition to direct assistance, the group announced support for local infrastructure by contributing to the rebuilding of the B J Medical College hostel. “No words can adequately express the pain we feel at this moment,” Chandrasekaran said. “Our thoughts and prayers remain with all those affected.”

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
