Pune : A five-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a car inside a residential society in Loni Kalbhor, Pune, on Monday evening. CCTV footage from the society shows the moments leading up to the accident. The incident occurred around 3.30pm while the child was playing with his bicycle within the Joy Nest Society premises. The car’s driver, a resident of Mundhwa Road, had entered the society to drop a friend in front of a building.

The vehicle hit the boy, who was rushed to a nearby private hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. The boy’s father, 40, has filed a complaint alleging rash and negligent driving leading to death. Footage from the society’s surveillance system, now circulating on social media, shows the child riding his bicycle unaware of the oncoming car. The video captures the driver rushing out to assist, neighbours hurrying to help and the boy being placed back into the vehicle before being taken to hospital.

Police said they are examining the CCTV evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events, including the car’s speed at the time of impact. According to investigators, Kawade was returning after dropping his friend when his vehicle hit the child with force. CCTV visuals show the car knocking Nishkarsh down, after which both wheels reportedly ran over him. The boy suffered a severe head injury and lost consciousness on the spot.

Residents rushed to the scene as the driver stopped the car and stepped out. Nishkarsh was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin. Police have registered a case against the driver at the local police station and are examining the CCTV footage as part of the investigation. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings, officials said.
