Six Arrested in Karnataka for Assault on Woman Over Alleged Affair

Authorities have detained six individuals in connection with the assault of a 38-year-old woman in Channagiri taluk, Davanagere district, police reported on Monday. The incident, which occurred on April 9, stemmed from allegations by the woman’s family that she was involved in an extramarital relationship.

The suspects, whose identities remain undisclosed, were apprehended following a complaint and have been placed in judicial custody for 14 days. A senior police officer, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine whether additional individuals were involved or if the attack was planned in advance.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further inquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident, the officer added.
