New Delhi: After Pakistan breached the ceasefire despite peace talks with India, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor took a veiled jibe at the same. He wrote on X, “Usi fitrat hail mukar jaane ki, use wade pe yakin kaise karun? (It is his nature to turn away. How can I trust his promise?)”
Just a few hours before his tweet, Tharoor, while talking to the PTI, said, “I think peace is essential, we need to have more details, but I am very glad.” Tharoor has been quite vocal about his support for Operation Sindoor, earlier praising the operation, the name and its image. He called Operation Sindoor “a brilliant name”.
He added, “It evokes the image, seared into our national consciousness, of the newly-widowed bride, kneeling and weeping by the side of her assassinated husband of six days in Pahalgam.” On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
On Saturday night, blasts were heard in Srinagar and Jammu, with projectiles and flashes lighting up the night sky over Jammu. Shots were also reported in Baramulla and a blast was heard in Sopore.
A full blackout was imposed in Jaisalmer and other parts of Rajasthan, as well as across Punjab, including a complete blackout in Moga.
US President Donald Trump on Saturday also said India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” after mediation by America. He wrote on Truth Social, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.
