Search Operation Against Infiltrating Terrorists in Kathua Enters Second Day

A major search operation against a group of infiltrating terrorists in the dense jungles of Kathua district, Jammu, entered its second day on Monday. The operation, led by Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, was intensified with the deployment of additional commandos, drones, and sniffer dogs. Security forces are focusing on a nursery area in Sanyal village, near the International Border with Pakistan, where the terrorists are believed to be hiding after crossing into India.

The operation began after intelligence inputs suggested that terrorists were holed up in a local enclosure, known as a ‘dhok.’ Upon entering the area, a police team from the Special Operations Group came under heavy fire from the terrorists, resulting in an intense gunfight lasting over 30 minutes. Reinforcements were quickly sent to the region as a manhunt was launched to capture the infiltrators, who are believed to have crossed the border on Saturday through a ravine or a newly created tunnel. As of now, no casualties have been reported, and there has been no new contact with the terrorists.

The operation has caused widespread fear among local villagers, with reports of terrorist sightings in the area. A young girl was injured by a stray bullet, and a villager described how terrorists had held her husband at gunpoint. Despite the tense situation, security forces have encircled the area in an effort to flush out the terrorists. Kathua has become a major route for Pakistan-based terrorists infiltrating into the region, and authorities have ramped up security in response to increasing terror activities across Jammu in recent years.
