‘Rasoiya Hona Chahiye Tha, Not a politician’: Tej Pratap Yadav Mocks Rahul Gandhi During Bihar Campaign

In a sharp jibe at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief and former RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav suggested that the Congress leader “should have been a rasoiya (cook)” instead of entering politics. His comments came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Begusarai, Bihar, where the Congress MP joined local fishermen in a traditional fish-catching activity.

Speaking to news agency PTI, Tej Pratap quipped, “Rahul Gandhi’s job is to ride a motorcycle and spread pollution. He’ll spend his life fishing. The country will be in darkness. ‘Jalebi chhan’na, machhli pakadna unko toh rasoiya hona chahiye tha. Why did he become a politician?’”

Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on the campaign trail in Bihar ahead of the upcoming two-phased assembly elections, took part in the local fishing ritual on Sunday. The Congress MP was seen wading into a pond and catching fish with his hands and nets, an event that drew both attention and ridicule from political rivals.

Earlier, BJP MP Ravi Kishan also took a swipe at Gandhi’s fishing escapade, joking that the Congress leader would receive “fewer votes than the number of fish he caught.”

“As many fish as he caught yesterday, he’ll get even fewer votes than that. But alright, at least his swimming style was good. We’re busy catching votes while he’s busy catching fish,” Ravi Kishan told reporters.

Voting for Bihar’s 243-member Assembly will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results scheduled for November 14. Tej Pratap Yadav has filed his nomination from the Mahua constituency and his party, the JJD, recently released its first list of 22 candidates on October 13 for the upcoming polls.
