In a devastating incident in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, a government school building collapsed on Friday morning, resulting in the deaths of at least four children and leaving several others feared trapped beneath the debris. The collapse occurred at Piplodi Government School in the Manohar Thana area around 8:30 a.m., when approximately 40 children, along with teachers and staff, were present in the single-storey structure.
According to sources, the building was in a dilapidated state, with prior complaints about its condition having been raised but not addressed. The roof’s collapse triggered immediate rescue efforts, with local residents and officials working to free those trapped. The injured children have been rushed to Manohar Thana Hospital, with those in critical condition transferred to a larger facility in Jhalawar for advanced treatment.
Rescue operations are ongoing as authorities strive to save any remaining survivors. The tragedy has underscored concerns about the safety of aging school infrastructure in the region.
