Indore: In a chilling discovery to the murder case of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, the first image of the weapon used in the brutal crime has surfaced. The weapon, a sharp machete-like blade known locally as a ‘dao’, was used to kill the 29-year-old while he was on his honeymoon in Meghalaya.
The murder, which stunned the nation, was allegedly orchestrated by Raja’s newlywed wife, Sonam (25), in collusion with her lover, Raj Kushwaha (20), and three other accomplices. All five have been arrested and are currently in police custody, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case.
According to police sources, Raja was ambushed and attacked multiple times with the dao. Investigators believe the first strike was delivered by one of the accused, Vishal. Another accused, Akash, was found with bloodstains on his shirt, believed to be from Raja’s attempts to fight back.
Authorities also confirmed that the murder weapon was purchased near Guwahati Railway Station, suggesting premeditated planning by the accused.
Adding a disturbing visual dimension to the case, a previously unseen video has surfaced showing Raja and Sonam trekking in Meghalaya just hours before the murder. The footage, captured inadvertently by a tourist named Dev Singh on May 23 at around 9:45 AM, shows the couple climbing a hill, Sonam leading, with Raja walking behind her. Investigators believe this was just hours before Raja was killed and his body dumped into a nearby gorge by three hired attackers.
The video, now part of the evidence, is being closely examined by the police as the investigation unfolds. More revelations are expected in the coming days as authorities dig deeper into the motive, planning, and execution of what appears to be a cold-blooded, pre-planned killing.
