
Chandigarh: The devastating floods in Punjab have claimed three more lives in Amritsar and Rupnagar districts over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 46 across 14 districts, according to Punjab’s Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian. Three individuals remain missing in Pathankot district as rescue operations continue.
In the last day, 48 additional villages, home to 2,691 residents, have been impacted, with 2,131 hectares of crops damaged. To date, the floods have affected 1,996 villages across 22 districts, impacting over 3.87 lakh people. Jalandhar reported 19 newly affected villages, followed by Ludhiana (13), Ferozepur (6), Amritsar (5), Hoshiarpur (4), and Fazilka (1).

Evacuation efforts are ongoing, with 925 more people rescued in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 22,854. Currently, 139 relief camps are operational, providing shelter to 6,121 affected individuals. Since the floods began, 219 camps have been set up across the state.
The agricultural toll continues to rise, with an additional 2,131 hectares of crops damaged in the last day, bringing the total to over 1.74 lakh hectares across 18 districts.
Relief operations are in full swing, with 23 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams deployed in Amritsar, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Pathankot, and Rupnagar. Two State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are active in Kapurthala. The Indian Army has deployed 27 columns and seven Engineer Task Forces, supported by nine helicopters from the Indian Air Force and Army. The Border Security Force (BSF) is assisting in Ferozepur, while 158 boats and one state helicopter are aiding rescue and relief efforts.
